I'm sure I'll be writing more about this remarkable woman over the life of this blog, but I wanted to introduce her early and respectfully. She lived from 1833 to 1909, was a maid of all work, and kept a voluminous diary. In 1854 she met a middle-class man by the name of Arthur Munby, and began a long and deeply kinky relationship with him. He was fascinated by her life as a maid, and she was clearly flattered by the attention.
She wrote him nearly daily letters, wore a leather strap around her right wrist and a locked chain around her neck (to which only he had the key), and addressed him as Massa. Her letters described her daily drudgery in exquisite detail. They would arrange to secretly meet, so he could see her filthy and disheveled from a long day's work, and so she could lick his boots, a particular obsession of hers; she once claimed to be able to tell where he had been by the flavor of his boots.
Ultimately they were secretly married, and she moved in with him as his maid. He revelled in photographing her in various roles, and in various types of erotic role playing, including, apparently, infantilism.
Her diaries were published in sixteen volumes as The Diaries of Hannah Cullwick, Victorian Maidservant, and are something I need to acquire.
Among the many things I love about her life:
- I love how she reported her daily subservience and toil to Munby; I really enjoy talking to the few people who know about my lifestyle.
- I love the chain around the neck; I would *love* to be collared.
- And I love the boot worship; I am probably never happier than when I have my nose pressed against the hard, shiny leather of a woman's boot, the taste of polish and dirt on my tongue. Bliss.
